I just want to share with the world how wonderful and professional Prof. Tim'm West and his team at My Writing Professor (especially Professor Tessa, who also helped me). Writing has always been a big challenge for me due to a learning disability I have. Because of this disability I have become very self-conscious about who I let read my writing. When I chose to go back to school to get my degree I had to face my fears about writing. For the most part I did really well in my classes, however in my last term I chose to take an extra class in order to be complete my degree early. I felt the stress from that choice from day one, but was determined if ambitious. By the time it came for my Final papers to be turned in, I was having panic attacks given the amount of work that had to be done. Then one day while on Facebook I was a post about using a service called 'My Writing Professor'. At that point I felt I had nothing to lose, but I still was very scared about someone reading my paper. I had to kill my pride. After my consultation with Prof. Tim'm, I felt better and didn't feel judged at all about my writing disability. Even though the deadlines I gave he and his team were crazy, they met every deadline I had with great notes and life-long lessons I can use to improve my writing. At the end of the day, I got an 'A' on both papers and I know what I submitted to MYP was not an 'A' paper. If you need help with writing for any project use MYP. They are helpful, non-judgmental, and know their stuff. I will be using them for my next degree as well as other projects.

Nancy's skill at understanding what what was needed to turn my PhD comprehensive paper into a cohesive paper was exactly what I needed. Her work with me enabled numerous threads to be woven together successfully, and my co-supervisors were so pleased with the results they decided a full committee defence wasn't required! Many, many thanks for your editing, Nancy, and the conversations and your skill at getting to the heart of what was needed.

Mr. West was my High School English teacher. At a time in my life that was crucial to my academic writing skills, he laid the foundation for papers that were impassioned but well thought out, eager but impeccably researched, and focused but uniquely multifaceted. He taught me by example, sharing his writing and encouraging me to experiment with unconventional essay structures and alternative ways of expressing myself.

Professor Tim'm has been an invaluable pair of eyes and has tackled my first manuscript with care. He's ability to edit goes beyond grammar; he understands the pathos, ethos, and logos it takes to engage an audience.

Professor West was my dual-credit 1302 English professor. He offered tremendous help in helping me choose a topic for an informative paper over NCAA athletics and education. With his help, I got an A on the paper. He took the time to show that he cared about each of his students on an individual basis. I am now pursuing a major in journalism and I have my own sports talk show that can be accessed at http://www.spreaker.com/page#!/show/the_nick_lott_show. I highly recommend letting professor West edit your paper and offer some great advice.

As an actor/performance artist who is also a writer and poet I was looking for an editor to help translate my stage work (performance poetry & monologues) to the page. Through many phone conversations and Skype meetings Professor Tim'm's guidance became more of a mentorship and partnership. On the page I found more nuance and flavor in my poetic style through his advice. To add, I am a fine self-editor now. Something about Tim’m’s editing eye and voice is still present when I write and edit my work. And while I have a better eye for self-editing, I will hire Tim’m again for my next project without hesitation. He is diligent, compassionate, knowledgeable, and generous with his time.

“Professor Alice has continued to be an associate member of my research group and we have communicated regularly over the years. In addition to her fine mind, she writes beautifully in several languages, whether it be professional or creative writing (her novels are riveting). I highly recommend her.”
Judith E. - Women Studies Professor
I met Professor Tim’m in my Multi-Cultural Queer Narratives class where we read his work Red Dirt Revival. As I struggled to locate a voice that is at once creative and academic, Tim’m provided a powerful example. With his help I cultivated a more honest writing style which allowed me to deliver the truths of my experience with integrity, and discover the extraordinary strength in disclosure: remembering that the personal is political. Experimenting with this kind of writing, and in particular, following Tim’m’s example, helped me revise notions of my own history, radically aiding the healing process, and clearing away some of the residue to see my own brilliance a little better, to realize my fabulousness.

Professor Tim'm is by far the best English teacher I have had. While he deeply explains the writing process and different methods on how to become an improved writer, he seeks to relate to students' personal experiences, which makes writing interesting. Because of Professor Tim'm I excelled in my English courses at Howard University where I am now a Junior.

“I highly recommend Professor Alice as an editor/writer. She helped me tremendously when I was writing my essay for graduate school applications. She revealed and used the unique and interdisciplinary aspects of my work and educational backgrounds to help me write a competitive and creative essay. Her guidance and expertise were very instrumental in my grad school applications and in my acceptance into grad school.”

“As a lifelong writer, my growth in creativity and commitment to substance has been heavily shaped by my educators, which Tim'm West was one during my years at Stanford University. I was deeply inspired by his passion for us, as students, and know that he was instrumental in helping me find the courage to trust my own voice. Years later, when he invited me to speak to a high school scholars' program he was teaching, I was thoroughly impressed by the blogs produced by his class and the ways in which social justice was woven into the students' content. I strongly believe that Tim'm is an ideal teacher because Tim'm is an ideal writer.”

The major advantage of Professor Tim'm's personalized tutoring is his ability to truly "meet students where they are" in an intimate way, allowing for a free flow of ideas and information which is not always easily attainable at an institutional/university-based writing center. This approach allows him to be mindful of students' individual intelligences, creating a tailor-made learning strategy and offering tools and skill sets which will transfer to other academic and professional settings. By working with students on their own schedule and accommodating their busy lives, Professor Tim'm is already more accessible than many writing centers could ever be. His extensive knowledge, enthusiasm for learning, and passion for writing have truly transformed my learning experiences and my life.
